FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ What is Sugaring?

Sugaring is an ancient form of body hair removal and is performed using a thick paste consisting of only sugar, lemon and water. This ball of paste is applied by hand and molded against the natural direction of hair growth. Then, with a quick flick of the wrist, the sugar is removed in the direction of growth, taking the entire hair and root with it. The same ball of sugar paste is used over and over again until the undesired hair has been removed.

+ Does Sugaring hurt?

While skin sensitivity varies, most people experience a slight tingling sensation. Where the hair is denser the sensation will be stronger. Customers familiar with being waxed or using an epilator say that sugaring is far less painful. With regular treatments the sensation lessens. Also, our sugar paste is not applied hot, so there is no increase in blood supply to the surface of the skin, therefore no increase in sensitivity. In addition, sugar paste adheres only to dead skin cells (not to living skin cells like waxing!), while still effectively sticking to the hair. Which simply means your skin won't be raw and irritated after your service.

+ How do I prepare for my sugaring appointment?

  • Avoid shaving for at least 7-10 days.
  • Avoid tanning for 24 hours (definitely no sugaring on sunburns).
  • Rinse or take a shower if you have had a rigorous workout.
  • Do not exfoliate the area the day before and day-of your service.
  • Avoid moisturizing the area to be sugared prior to your appointment, especially the legs.

+ Which parts of my body can I have sugared?

From brows to toes and everything in between! (Everything except scalps and men’s beards.)

+ Does the hair grow back darker or more coarse?

No. On the contrary, the hair will grow back thinner. Sugaring removes the hair from the root, thus discouraging hair growth. Regularly scheduled services, particularly during the winter months, will noticeably reduce hair growth. The re-growth takes longer to appear and is considerably thinner.

+ Can I be sugared during my period?

Yes, absolutely. All we ask is that you wear a tampon and be aware that some women can be more sensitive to pain at this time.

+ What's different about your tanning service?

We use a certified-organic, aloe vera and white tea-based tanning solution designed to give you a gorgeous, customized tan! This combination of luxurious antioxidants and hydration provides an even glow with no trace of typical sunless tan "stink" and stickiness! + How do I prepare for my custom airbrush tan?

-Exfoliate! Prior to your appointment, clear away any dry, dead skin cells with a pH-balancing body wash with exfoliating gloves or body scrub. -Avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products, or in-shower moisturizers. These products can neutralize the DHA bronzing reaction within the skin. -Do not apply anything to the skin that may act as a barrier between the sunless solution and the skin. No lotions, creams or perfumes prior to the session. Use deodorant sparingly. Remove any make-up prior to sunless application. -Wear loose-fitting, dark clothing and remove jewelry. Tight clothing can rub or smear the bronzer, especially around the knees, elbows and waist.

+ How fast will my tan develop?

Tans continue to develop up to 24 hours after an airbrush tan session.

+ How long after tanning can I take a shower?

For your convenience, we have a variety of solutions that allow you to shower anywhere from one to 12 hours after your tan is precisely applied. Chat with your airbrush artist to discuss which solution best meets your needs and desired outcome.
